Let me wander barefoot
Across this sea of broken glass
My feet I know can take it;
The pain I know shall pass.
Let me search out the horizon;
Let me find myself a shore.
And if I cannot drop my anchor,
Let me walk forevermore.
You cannot take me in a ferry;
You cannot walk me there yourself.
The destination has no meaning
If I don’t walk the way myself.
Just let me wander barefoot
Across my sea of broken glass;
And if I wander back again,
Perhaps I’ll anchor in at last.
